Industrial Networking Technology

The iTapestry Connectors and associated device Beans provide data connectivity to industrial devices by 'speaking' and 'understanding' the industrial automation protocols used by the Ethernet network ports on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

For example the EtherNet/IP and Modbus/TCP Connectors can be used to communicate directly from a J2EE application server to the Ethernet ports on Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley) ControlLogix and Telemecanique (Modicon) Quantum PLCs respectively.

In addition to the ControlLogix and Quantum PLCs, Starthis can provide Beans that use the EtherNet/IP or Modbus/TCP Connectors to communicate with a variety of other devices such as Ethernet-Serial gateways and Ethernet to Fieldbus gateways.

(e.g. HMS Industrial Networks' AnyBus Communicator Serial Gateways )
(e.g. Pyramid Solutions' Ethernet to DeviceNet Gateway)

Industrial Automation Protocols

More details about EtherNet/IP, and Modbus/TCP, the industrial automation protocols supported by the iTapestry Connectors, can be found from the following documents on other websites.
