Please visit this website: http://www.eclipse.org/gef/.
Please perform the following steps.
Click on the heading titled Downloads, as shown in Figure 3.1, “GEF homepage”. Make sure that you DO NOT click on the link titled GEF 3.1 as you need version 3.0.1 and NOT 3.1.
You should now be seeing a webpage similar to Figure 3.2, “GEF downloads page”. Look for a heading titled Latest Releases and locate the column titled Build Name. Click on the link titled 3.0.1 under the column Build Name as highlighted in Figure 3.2, “GEF downloads page” to load another webpage in your browser.
You should now be seeing a webpage as shown in Figure 3.3, “GEF Release build 3.0.1 page”. Look for the heading titled SDK and click on the link titled GEF-SDK-3.0.1.zip, as shown in Figure 3.3, “GEF Release build 3.0.1 page”.
Once you open the zip file using a decompressing utility of your choice, you will notice that the zip file shows a folder titled eclipse, as shown in Figure 3.4, “Extracting the GEF zip file”.
Now, extract the zip file to the parent folder of your Eclipse installation. For example, if you have installed Eclipse in the location c:\starthis_demo\eclipse, you should extract the zip file into c:\starthis_demo as shown in Figure 2.4, “Extracting to the Eclipse parent folder”.
Please note that if you are currently using the Eclipse platform, you have to close it and re-open it to complete the plug-in insallation.
You can verify the installation by navigating to Help->About Eclipse Platform and clicking on the button titled Plug-in Details. This will pop up a window as shown in Figure 3.5, “GEF installation verification”. Please note that the GEF plug-ins have been highlighted in the image.
